Travel tips for Hanoi – What to do in the evenings?

1. Eating and drinking.

Vietnamese food’s tastes are absolutely not familiar with tourist when first travel to Vietnam. So where is the best place for you to taste the real Vietnamese cuisine? Hanoi’s old quarter is the best place and famous for lot of local street food. Simply order those food at the street vendors, sit on plastic chair and tables along the pavements. This is not something fancy like eating at the restaurant but it will give you the truly local flavors. Here are some of our recommendations for you:

2. Walking in Hanoi at night time:

After experiencing the local Vietnamese food and Bia Hoi, it’s good time to explore around the Hanoi’s old quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake to get some fresh air and relaxing on the stone bench.

There is another option to go shopping for some little souvenir at the night market near Dong Xuan Market. The market is 3 days per week and the whole street will be blocked away from traffic. Please be aware of pickpockets and do not bring valuable things with you like phone, passport, money…

3. Singing Karaoke with Vietnamese style.

Karaoke is now become more and more popular with Vietnamese peoples. This is one of the relaxing ways to entertain after working hours or celebrate birthday party with friends or in some special even. There will be a private room for singing, drinking beers and showing off your voice to friends. The songs can be in both Vietnamese and English. There are many Karaoke bars around Hanoi and the best places are:

  • Jaguarudi Karaoke : 9 Hang Chuoi or 40 Cua Dong street

4. Minh’s Jazz Club:

Hanoi clubbing scene is still new for many Hanoian. Peoples are getting to know more about going to Club in recent years. Clubs hours are mostly from 8 pm until midnight, and they get packed with local Vietnamese and foreigners from around 10.00 pm on-wards. Weekend is busier. Minh’s Jazz club is a great place for you to relax. The club is owned by an amazing saxophone player who first brought jazz to Vietnam – His name is Minh also the name of the club.
